The deadline to apply for SNAP reimbursement funds has been extended to Dec. 20, 2024. If your SNAP benefits were stolen from your EBT card within the last 30 days, you can take action to apply for reimbursement before the federal program ends.
TAKE ACTION RIGHT AWAY IF YOUR SNAP BENEFITS HAVE BEEN STOLEN
If your SNAP benefits are stolen from your EBT card anytime between Oct. 1, 2022, and Dec. 20, 2024, through card skimming, card cloning, phishing or other fraudulent means, take the following actions:
-
Change your PIN immediately and report your card/benefits stolen to either Virginia's EBT Client Customer Service Helpdesk at 866-281-2448 (accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) or your local department of social services.
-
Complete the required form with details about how the benefits were stolen, sign the form, and send or bring it to your local department of social services within 30 days of the discovery of the theft.
Benefits lost due to theft cannot be replaced more than two times in a federal fiscal year (October 1 through September 30 of each year 10/1/22 ‐ 12/20/24).
It is also advised that you contact 3-1-1 or your local non-emergency law enforcement to file a report about the stolen benefits.
